A record summer in 2025 and more than 13.5 million tourists by the end of August
Tourism in Morocco
Morocco’s tourism sector continues its strong momentum. Summer 2025 recorded outstanding performance, with 4.6 million tourists between July and August 2025, representing a 6% increase compared to summer 2024. This season was notably marked by a significant return of Moroccans Living Abroad (MRE), reaching 3 million between July and August 2025 — a 13% increase compared to the previous summer.
This performance reflects both the strong attachment of MRE to their home country and Morocco’s ability to attract a large number of international tourists.
Overall, by the end of August 2025, the Kingdom had welcomed 13.5 million tourists, representing a 15% increase compared to 2024. By comparison, global tourism growth is not expected to exceed 5% in 2025, according to UN Tourism forecasts.
These results strengthen Morocco’s position as a major international destination and form part of a dynamic expected to accelerate with upcoming major events. Hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup (co-organised with Spain and Portugal), the Marrakech International Film Festival, the Mawazine Festival, as well as new tourism and cultural projects across the Kingdom, will help attract even more visitors in the coming years. Morocco is therefore preparing to welcome sustained tourism growth, driven by its global visibility, developing infrastructure, and its image as a welcoming and culturally rich country.
